jole rider gets African children to school - by bike!

Our new website is at: http://www.jolerider.org/

jole rider [pron. jolly rider] is best known for its bikes4Africa education programme, getting African children to school by providing refurbished, recycled second-hand  bicycles donated in the UK.

jole rider rescues bikes from recycling centres, businesses, the police, other charities and individual donors.

We refurbish the bikes with the help of our volunteer engineers and our partners HM Prison Service and deliver the bikes to African secondary schools.

The bikes are donated to the African schools, and allocated by teachers to students with the longest walks to school.

jole rider provides skills training, and bike maintenance workshops, in African schools so that students and teachers can maintain the bikes.

For African students, who often face a walk in searing heat of 10 miles or even further to get to school, a bike makes an enormous difference, not only to them, but to their communities and countries.

jole rider has delivered over 4,000 bikes to African secondary schools.

jole rider also works with schools in the UK, to promote and develop education through partnerships with African schools.

jole rider friends is UK registered charity number 1112914
