Many African students have to walk 10 miles, or even further - in searing heat - to get to their nearest secondary school.

jole rider provide quality, refurbished bikes to African secondary schools. Bikes become the property of the schools and are allocated by teachers to children with the longest walks to school.

jole rider also provide skills training to African students and teachers so that the schools maintain their bikes.

When a student completes his or her education, the bike they have used to reach their education remains at the school, and is passed on to a younger student.

"Education is the most powerful way to change the world." Nelson Mandela

jole rider send 300 bikes at a time, in a 40 foot sea container. Tools and spare parts for the schools are also shipped with the bikes.

Gardening tools and craft tools [such as woodworking] are also sent, bringing benefits for students, teachers and communities. If you're about to throw out some old tools, please contact us!

More children attending school, more often, means entire African communities moving away from poverty.

Positive change in Africa... one bike at a time.

Skills training to enable African students to keep the bikes on the road also serves as valuable education in basic engineering. Students become better equipped to start their own businesses, in metalworking or mechanical repair.

Since the donated bus broke down, there being no maintenance budget for vehicles, Lamin Ceesay now walks over 10km each day from his home in Sifoe to get to his nearest school, Gunjur Upper Basic, The Gambia. He gets to school late and exhausted. But at least he gets there!

His fellows living further afield don’t.
